Dan Pevar had the idea for Poker Pauly while working at an online poker store in West Chester, Pennsylvania this year. His original vision was of a Garfield-like strip where three characters played poker obsessively. Their names would be: Pauly, Cynthia, and Elbow.... a brother, a sister, and a cat.Soon after writing his first five strips, Dan decided to find an artist to bring the characters to life on paper, and after about a month of looking at artists, illustrator Alex T. Lee popped up on the local Craig's List. Both in their early 30's, Dan and Alex were ready for a good project to sink their teeth into so they quickly set to work and made about 40 comics before they even shook hands! Katie Lightcap, a humorist blogger and artist in her mid-twenties, joined the team as the editor in chief, but soon became a co-writer adding her sharp wit to Poker Pauly. All three of them intend to push the limits of comics artistically, and they are very proud to have successfully managed to create (to the best of their knowledge) the best (and first) daily poker comic strip out there! Their long-term goal is to see Poker Pauly in the Philadelphia Inquirer and other large city papers, but for now Poker Pauly abides on the internet. Dan's, Alex's, and Katie's contact information may be found at PokerPauly.com.
